Local Calls involve a complex process of connections and switching
between telephone sets and central offices.
Even though making calls is a everyday custom in modern society,
the process evolved from a switchboard operator connecting cables
in order to establish the call to high speed automated equipment
that send and receive up to millions of calls per day.
Additionally, there are different ways through which we can now
make calls, from selecting the best carrier for our convenience
to prepaid calling cards that allow us to save on long distance
calls, among many other features.
In this section, we provide a description of the call process itself,
as well as the different options available when making calls.
